Families from all across the West Valley came out to the inaugural Avondale Farmers Market Festival held on October 9th. Hosted by Brookfield Residential’s Alamar, the newest and best-selling master-planned community in Avondale, the event commemorated the residential community’s 1-year anniversary, in conjunction with the City of Avondale’s very own 75th anniversary.
Visitors and Residents enjoyed the free festivities at Alamar’s Hay Moon Park, the mild weather and beautifully iconic views of the Sierra Estrella Mountains. Adults and kids danced and ate goodies on the lawn while Highway 85 Band played some of America’s best classic hits. Aspiring musicians and those who simply like to beat the drum also got their fix, thanks to Sankofa Island Magic’s interactive African drumming station. The upbeat band entertained the crowds with its Steel Pan performance and Caribbean vibe, while audience members became performers themselves, joining in with dozens of unique drums and instruments. Meanwhile, children played various carnival games, engaged with arts-and-crafts exhibits and interacted with the animals at Jungle Jill’s petting zoo, featuring dozens of feathered, scaled and furry animals. Local vendors offered organic products such as fresh honey, gourmet coffee, popular products and boutique clothing, while the Alamar Community Association hosted VIP experiences for Alamar residents within Alamar’s Community Pool area. “We set out to capture the spirit of Avondale and its history, and I think we accomplished so much more than that, thanks to the collaborative efforts from our partners at the City of Avondale, all of our vendors and entertainers, and of course the members of the community who came out to celebrate with us,” Brookfield Residential Vice President of Marketing Garilyn Bourgeois said. “We look forward to many more events like this to come as Alamar continues to grow along with Avondale.”
Alamar is the largest masterplan to open in the Valley since 2013 and will feature a total 3,695 homes once all phases are complete. The first phase of 461 homes is nearly sold out, and the next phase of 346 homes are starting to open to the public with premium Builders Shea Homes, Gehan Homes, David Weekley, Taylor Morrison, Capital West and D.R.
