Lakin Prep Academy is Now Open!

We’re proud to announce the opening of Lakin Prep Academy, a brand new state-of-the-art learning facility located inside Alamar. It has been a busy month for the Littleton Elementary School District who hosted a dedication and ribbon-cutting for Lakin Prep Academy on July 11th, a Community Tour on July 18th, a Meet the Teacher night on July 24th, and officially welcomed students to kick-off the 2023-2024 school year on July 26th. This innovative academy will cater to students from grades K-5 initially, with plans to expand to grades 6-8 based on demand.

Leading the academy’s educational journey is the distinguished and award-winning principal, Dr. Nicole Durazo. Her remarkable leadership earned her recognition from the Maricopa County Superintendent’s office as an Exemplary Principal for the 22-23 school year. Under Dr. Durazo’s guidance, Lakin Prep Academy will work toward achieving accreditation as an International Baccalaureate (IB) elementary school. Lakin Prep Academy prides itself on integrating modern technology into every classroom to support teachers and engage students effectively. The school offers an accelerated and individualized program with a strong emphasis on inquiry-based learning.

The academy promotes a strong sense of international-mindedness, diversity, and global themes, which encourages intercultural awareness among its students. In addition, Lakin Prep Academy offers a unique dual language immersion program for the youngest learners (K-2), providing them with a foundation for bilingual proficiency and cultural understanding.

Additional services include an after-school program that will be available through the Boys & Girls Club Littleton branch, while transportation from the school to the club will be provided by the Littleton School District at the end of each school day.
